Birdsong Café – quaint & welcoming

We (the team and I) went for our weekly lunch out. M insisted on something new, checked Zomato, made suggestions and the team agreed on Birdsong (non veg, affordable and most important, nearby in Bandra W). I had read the review on www.finelychopped.net so was quite keen to try it.

This welcoming and quaint café has high ceilings and big windows. It offers organic fare and is quite lovely, exposed brick walls, menu on the blackboard and handwritten. Despite a very limited non veg selection, no chicken as organic isn’t available, we placed our order and enjoyed our surroundings. We ate the pumpkin and feta quiche, mutton salad (roast with raw veggies in a light, flavorful dressing), tomato cheese sandwich, orange brownie and coffee.

The meal was delicious – and I will go back for the pumpkin and feta quiche for sure.

The only downside is that when asked us if we wanted the cheese sandwich grilled, we said no and were taken aback when to see open sandwiches with the grated cheese topping. Didn’t look so good but tasted rather nice.

Cost per head – Rs 450 for a generous satisfying meal.

Worth a visit ….. you’ll probably return
